“Planning and implementation of the district’s summer engagement strategy is well underway! In partnership with the Mayor’s Office, City Schools will host a series of citywide summer family festivals to:
Expand the district’s reach into Baltimore’s neighborhoods and communities
Connect students and families to district and community-based resources
Communicate and promote the expectation of a full return to in-person learning on August 30th
Provide families and students with hands-on learning opportunities and materials (e.g. free books, literacy/STEM kits, and school supplies)
We’re hoping to engage over 1,000 families at each festival for a FREE and fun-filled evening of information sharing, interactive learning exhibits, live entertainment, student performances, and more! Through this family engagement activity, we’ll share district supports for school readiness and academic supports. Families will also connect with city agencies and community-based partners.
The summer family festivals will take place on the following dates between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (see attached flyer):
July 29th, Druid Hill Park
August 5th, Carroll Park
August 12th, Clifton Park
August 13th, Patterson Park
August 28th, Location TBD (Mayor’s Back-to-School Rally)”
