June is National Healthy Housing Month, created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH). To support awareness GHHI is providing education sessions “to increase awareness of housing-related health hazards, lead poisoning prevention, and the overall principles of a healthy home, especially for low-income populations” and to “encourage residents to take the actions and steps for safe and healthy homes.” Join in and share these events with your staff, collagenous and clients. The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative is hosting a virtual town hall in recognition of National Healthy Homes Month to highlight effective approaches to building community-based partnerships and delivering healthy housing through the organization’s place-based services. GHHI staff members from Baltimore, Providence, Memphis and Jackson (MS) will discuss their strategies for building partnerships and networks capable of addressing health disparities related to housing through community engagement, education, housing repairs, workforce development, and other programming.
