“Join Johns Hopkins in the Fight Against Drug Misuse!

Johns Hopkins Medicine participates in the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
The next event will be held:

Saturday April 24, 2021
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Drive up and drop off your unused or expired prescription medications at any of our five locations including:

Johns Hopkins Bayview
The Johns Hopkins Hospital
Howard County General Hospital
Sibley Memorial Hospital
Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital

Please note: Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital can only accept tablets and capsules. Locations in Maryland and D.C. can accept tablets, capsules, liquids, creams, e-cigarettes, vape pens and sharps.

Our on-site staff will be at all five locations and will dispose of your medications safely and securely. No questions asked. In addition, all events will be outside, contactless and our volunteers will be wearing masks and other protective equipment. The event is open to employees, patients and the public.

During the October 2020 event, participating sites including Sibley Memorial Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and The Johns Hopkins Hospital collected a total of 498 pounds of medication. Nationwide this event brought in nearly a million pounds of unused, expired and unwanted medications– the largest amount ever collected in the program's ten-year history.

Including the Johns Hopkins pharmacy take-back bins, our total now exceeds 2000 pounds (1 ton) of medication collected and disposed of in a safe, environmentally friendly way.
