“For Father's Day, Community Advocate Margaret Powell, shares memories of the treasures for which she is thankful...
Join us for this presentation by Margaret Powell that shares memories of the treasures for which she is thankful...
Margaret Powell attended public schools in Baltimore City, earned a B.S., M.S. and M.A.T. at Coppin State University, and pursued doctoral coursework in Urban Educational Leadership at Morgan State University. She was a financial aid officer and bursar at Coppin, spanning 27 years. After a career change in 2000, she taught at Matthew A. Henson Elementary School in West Baltimore for 17 years. It was during this period that she began to more clearly understand that the school is the community and the community is the school. Matthew A. Henson ES became an intrinsic part of her being.
Margaret Powell is the proud mother of a son and daughter and grandmother of five. The community is adding another important layer to her life. These components continue to add to the person she is becoming.”
